官方语言：新西兰官方规定了三种官方语言，分别是：英语，毛利语，新西兰手语。
毛利语（Maori）：毛利人从太平洋诸岛来到新西兰之后，语音变化很少。基本上各地的人都可以沟通无碍。毛利语是新西兰土著毛利人的语言，也是新西兰的三种官方语言之一。
新西兰约四分之一的毛利人使用“蒂雷欧毛利语”（Te reo Maori）。使用这种语言的人大约有一半不到二十五岁。这是种玻利尼西亚语言（类似其它大洋洲语，如夏威夷语和大溪地语），有一种独特的诗感和音乐性。毛利语是新西兰的官方语言之一。
新西兰手语（TheNewZealandSignLanguage）：世界手语系中的一种。
